Aircond Not Cold: Common Causes and What to Do
Learn why an air conditioner may stop cooling, which simple checks are safe and when to call a technician.

Check the basics first
Make sure the remote is set to Cool mode, the set temperature is below the room temperature and the remote batteries still work. Check whether the filter is heavily covered in dust.
- Close doors and windows.
- Clean the filter according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Observe whether the outdoor unit is running without touching its components.
When the problem needs diagnosis
If airflow remains weak, the unit switches off repeatedly, ice appears or the air stays warm, the issue may involve the coil, sensors, electrical components or refrigerant. Do not open electrical panels yourself.
A technician should test the system before recommending a gas top-up or component replacement. Refrigerant should not reduce without a cause, so a possible leak needs to be assessed.
